About Kibale National Park
Kibale National Park, situated in western Uganda, serves as a protective sanctuary for lush evergreen rainforest. Encompassing an expansive 766 square kilometers (296 sq mi), the park spans elevations ranging from 1,100 meters (3,600 ft) to 1,600 meters (5,200 ft). While predominantly characterized by moist evergreen forest, Kibale surprises with its diverse array of landscapes, making it a unique conservation area. It stands as one of the few remaining expanses preserving both lowland and montane forests, representing a vital ecological treasure in eastern Africa and safeguarding the last significant expanse of pre-montane forest.
